If my computer gets lost or destroyed and I purchase a new one, can you assist in the restore process?

Yes, call us for help. If you want to send us a new computer, we can also help restore it the same day and overnight it back out to you. Fees apply!

I have never heard of your company. How long have you been in business?

Well, We actually just launched it! Don’t worry, “BackupStuff” is a subsidiary of “BlackSun Inc.”, a private Canadian company that has been managing data since 1998!

Where is your “storage cloud” located?

All of our network is 100% Canadian-based. Our servers are centrally located in Saskatoon, SK Canada. See the Contact Us section for our map.

Are you located in an earthquake zone?

No, our servers are within the “BlackSun Web Hosting” data centre spaces. BlackSun is known as the “hosting company that is located farthest from a fault line”. See our Contact Us page for our location. We are happy to arrange for tours of our facility.

What if I have too much data to backup? Can I seed my backup by sending you a drive?

Yes, we have a logistics team that can pickup your device via FedEx or UPS. BackupStuff can seed the data to your online backup account and import the data using our adoption process. This allows us to merge your data so that you can simply backup your changes saving you time (and bandwidth).

Do you support backing up network drives?

Yes, but only on Mac, Linux or Solaris.

Is BackupStuff HIPAA Compliant?

While each implementation must be verified for compliance, our solution can be used in a HIPAA-compliant environment. Contact us for a free white paper that describes our FileStuff.ca and BackupStuff.ca secure environment.

How is your software licensed?

Each user account is licensed by an annual user license. Each active user consumes a user license. The license fee is activated once data is backed up to our cloud storage.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. There is a 30-day free trial to CrashPlan PROe. Your trial is a fully functional version of the software, and is exactly the same as the purchased software. We charge $2 to validate your account and prove you are a real user. If you do not want to pay the crappy $2 setup fee, then call us and beg our sales folks to give you a free license. If you like how the system works during the trial period, for god’s sake at least purchase them a $2 Tim Hortons gift card, (as the setup fee will come out of their coffee fund otherwise!) Same goes for our other FileStuff.ca service!

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept payment via credit card, PayPal, or cheques.

Is there a mobile app?

Yes, users can download the “CrashPlan PROe” app from the Android Play Store or the Apple App Store.

What happens if I change a file on the mobile app?

The CrashPlan app is intended as a way to access your backup files across your devices. However, any changes you make to files downloaded with the CrashPlan app will not sync to the original file or other devices.

What can I do with downloaded files on the mobile app?

  • Open files within other apps on your device that support the file type
  • Edit files within other apps on your device that support the file type
  • Send files as email attachments (you must have an email account configured on your device)
